2012 Honda Accord Seat Room and Comfort: Pros
Year | Comment | |
2013 | Compared to any midsize sedan, the Accord Coupe's rear seat is tight and difficult to get into and out of. At 5-9 I can sit behind myself, but with only an inch between my scalp and the rear window and about the same between my knees and the front seat back. The rear seat is only in the "whys" here because it's being compared to the rear seats in other coupes, including the Hyundai's, and these are even tighter. Same story with cargo capacity. The Accord Coupe's 13.7 cubic-foot trunk would be marginally competitive in a midsize sedan, but it compares very well to those in other coupes. The Genesis Coupe checks in at 10.0. see full Honda Accord review |

Another reason I'm glad I got the EX model. The power lumbar on the drivers seat is my backs best friend. Even after 16 hour days and 1100 miles, my back is fine. Excellent seats! see full Honda Accord review |

Many reviews online state how comforable the seats are in the Accord, I cannot agree with them. I have owned a 2013 Altima as well and it is much more comfortable, but that car has a stability problem on the highway. see full Honda Accord review |

Front headrests are inclined too far forward, making the seats very uncomfortable for shorter drivers. Drivers taller than 6'3" won't have a problem. But as a shorter driver, the uncomfortable seats have caused extreme upper back pain. see full Honda Accord review |

2012 Honda Accord Powertrain: Pros
Year | Comment | |
2013 | On paper, the Honda Accord Coupe's DOHC 3.5-liter V6 engine is down a sizable 70 horsepower, 278 vs. 348, compared to the Genesis Coupe's 3.8. Midrange power doesn't differ as much (peak torque ratings of 252 vs. 295 pound-feet), but the Hyundai's larger, direct-injected engine is clearly stronger. Both cars weigh about 3,400 pounds, and rear-wheel-drive has a low-speed traction advantage, so the Hyundai should be much quicker. Well, it's not. Figures published by Car & Driver confirm that the Genesis Coupe is quicker, but only by four tenths of a second to 60 (5.2 vs. 5.6) and by half that for the quarter mile (13.8 vs. 14.0). Of course, the same logic would make the Genesis Coupe with its base engine, a 274-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder, about as quick as the Honda (5.9 seconds to 60, 14.4 for the quarter). But the less pleasurable sound and uneven power delivery of the four disqualify it as a close match. The Honda Accord V6's performance quality easily compensates for its slight deficit in performance quantity. This V6 is among the best-sounding, smoothest-revving in the entire industry. You'll want to wind it out. The manual transmission, with a tighter, more precise, and simply better-feeling shifter than the Hyundai's, every snick from gear to gear a joy, is the perfect partner for this engine. see full Honda Accord review |

Performance and Handling of the 2013 Accord Sport (6-speed manual) has been excellent. I was pleasantly surprised when test driving a 2013 Accord Sport, that I decided to purchase one. Driving, handling, and the features were very nice. Handling is is very responsive and little to no sway or body-roll in the turns. Acceleration was impressive compared to the previous generation 5-speed (manual) Accord (2008-2012). see full Honda Accord review |

2013 | 4dr Sedan 185-horsepower 2.4L I4 CVT FWD |
The 4 cylinder I chose has plenty of power but is buzzy at full acceleration. The fact that it has a cam chain instead of a belt is a big plus as it normally never needs replacment and will save you around $900 later on. The CVT transmission is different and seems to shutter at low speed when accelerating very slowly. It is not annoying but just different from a normal A/T. No reason to choose the V6 over the 4 cylinder as the little 4 banger is very peppy. The 4 cylinder is all the engine you will need in daily driving and it is cheaper to buy and gets better mileage to boot. I got 30 mpg on my very first tank of fuel driving about 50/50 city-highway. Mileage has steadily increased over time and I now am averaging around 32 mpg in 75/25 city/highway driving. see full Honda Accord review |

This is our second Honda Accord V6. It is a smooth driving car with good handling characteristics. It has an excellent driving position and good rear and side visibility enhanced by the side-view (and rear, when necessary) cameras. The V6 provides excellent acceleration and surprisingly good economy on the highway, about 34+mpg. Around town, it's more average: 23. see full Honda Accord review |

The Honda V6 is a delightful engine, lots of power, smooth torque delivery and a truly wonderful 6-speed gearshift (manual). By contrast, the Golf had longer throws and a less-intuitive clutch pickup. And a LOT less power. see full Honda Accord review |
2011 | 4dr Sedan 190-horsepower 2.4L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
The 4 cylinder and 5 speed manual are a match made in heaven. Plenty of power and excellent fuel economy. I'm glad I got the more powerful EX. While 13hp increase does not sound like much, the k24z3 seems to have a much nicer torque curve than the lower end models. Neither four cylinder seems to match well with the automatic though. Power seem down and the ratio gaps make the engine feel peaky and pressed. If you must have an auto, get the v6, you will be glad you spent the extra $ the first time you pass on a two lane road with people in the car. see full Honda Accord review |

I cannot stand the VCM cylinder deactivation system that shuts down half the engine when it doesn't need it. It is much less noticeable in this car than the 2010 Accord I had before, but I feel like they can do away with it or I wish there was a button to deactivate it. If you are not used to it you would think there is something wrong, but it is completely normal. The engine makes a slight jerk when it kicks on and off. I just feel like something will break down soon, it doesn't feel very refined. see full Honda Accord review |
2013 | 4dr Sedan 185-horsepower 2.4L I4 CVT FWD |
The CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) performs mediocre at best, and when started cold, the car jerks and judders when accelerating and stopping. There is a Technical Service Bulletin fix, which will require four hours at a dealership, needing a part and a software upgrade to the computer. This supposedly will eliminate the judders and the rubber band effect of the CVT. see full Honda Accord review |

The stock tires suck. Period. Noisy, bad in snow, so so in the rain and ridiculously expensive to replace. I was expecting much more out of Michelin's. They do seem to be wearing ok though, should get 50K+ out of them. see full Honda Accord review |
