Had issues with the Adblue heater and replaced that. Also sometimes the Glowplug light turns on after a start in the morning, and have the odd NOX sensor check engine light come on. But in both cases after several restarts and a good heavy foot drive on the highway the issues disappears. So crossing my fingers that these do not become long term issues and requires repairs. full 2011 Volkswagen Touareg review |

This car has major reliability issues. I have not driven a car with such few km that has had so many problems. Drive shafts, leaking engine seals, EGR valves, leaking sump plug, mirrors not working, hand brake buzzer going on and off, engine warning lights going on one day off the next. I had a VW Superbug in the 70's which nealy sent me broke with heads going and I swore never another VW. The Toureg looked like a good compromise for on and off road but it is too unreliable to take any distance aware from a major centre. If I go country I take my 30 year old classic as it is more reliable. full 2008 Volkswagen Touareg review |

With so many gadgets, I worry about the reliability....and VW does get dinged for reliability in CR. full 2007 Volkswagen Touareg review |

Had a computer problem that took forever to get fixed; ALso spent a riduculous amount of time getting the trailer lights powered. Bottom line - although the tow limit is 7500 lbs, trying to power normal US trailers causes the computer to go haywire. full 2004 Volkswagen Touareg review |

There are a lot of electronic do-dads, all very nice to have but the reliability of a great number of them is/hes been less than stellar, with the majority of touaregs having to return to the dealers numerous times during their first year. full 2004 Volkswagen Touareg review |

Too many known issues now I would be looking at another vehicle. Probably Japanese. Audi, Porsche and VW all out of same factory so not sure about their reliability. No dealer support for known problems in Australia. full 2008 Volkswagen Touareg review |
