Everyone recognizes this face. Square forms leave no doubt this is an SUV. Redesign added fender bulges, bolder grille.
This might be the GL's best angle. Nicely executed interaction among the side window outline, fender bulge, and tail lamp.
Best camera system to date makes parking even such a large vehicle easy, even fun. Q7 appears much sleeker. But insufficiently brawny?
All GL-Classes have upholstered instrument panels. Designo replaces leatherette with real hides. Even with COMAND, plenty of non-virtual buttons, but they're well-organized. COMAND, not so much.
Much better than the typical Benz park bench. High and cushy, about as comfortable a second row as you'll find in an SUV.
Low to the floor, but much easier to access and more adult-friendly than those in the Audi. Not a lot of cargo space with all seats up, but more than in the Audi owing to squarer body.
Third-row seats power-fold to more than double the cargo space. High load floor, but nearly flat and competitive in volume with large crossovers, if not minivans.
Only 3.0 liters, and a diesel, but easily up to the task of accelerating three tons. Apt FB comment: "Looks like someone dumped a wheelbarrow full of parts in the engine compartment!"
