Mazda Mazda6 Reliability And Durability: Pros | |
Year | Comment |
2018 | Okay, maybe I shouldn't have waited until the fifth slot to mention reliability. For many people it will be a higher priority than the attributes discussed above. And from 2014 onwards the Mazda6 has scored very well in our Car Reliability Survey. full 2018 Mazda Mazda6 review |

2008 | 4dr Hatch 212-horsepower 3.0L V6 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
The car is over 2 yrs old now with close to 30,000 miles with no unscheduled maintenance. The car has been very reliable full 2008 Mazda Mazda6 review |
2007 | 4dr Sedan turbocharged 270hp 2.3L I4 6-speed manual AWD |
One rear shock started leaking at about 85k, which necessitated replacing both of course. The engine stumbles sometimes when accelerating from a steady criuse - can hear what I presum is the waste gate banging like a machine gun. No error codes and the Mazda dealership I go to has no clue as far as I can tell. I have been impressed with Mazda reliability but with many computers, differentials and complexity galore I may not own this one into late middle age. full 2007 Mazda Mazda6 review |

2006 | 4dr Sedan turbocharged 274hp 2.3L I4 6-speed manual AWD |
The Speed6 has been very reliable, no major repairs, even under warranty. Have an intermittent front suspension squeak with the upper and lower control arms, just haven't had it fixed yet since it's harmless. Brakes and clutch are original. full 2006 Mazda Mazda6 review |
2006 | 4dr Sedan turbocharged 274hp 2.3L I4 6-speed manual AWD |
In 25K miles, I experienced one check engine light, and a powerloss issue once that was corrected with a recall. Most reliable car I ever owned. full 2006 Mazda Mazda6 review |

2007 | 4dr Wagon 212-horsepower 3.0L V6 6-speed shiftable automatic FWD |
Had a problem where the suspension would make a creeking sound while turning the steering wheel at slow (parking lot) speeds. Internet research turned up a few similar problems. Our problem was successfully diagnosed as a bushing problem in a lower control arm. I expect that I will need motor mounts replaced sooner-rather-than-later as well. full 2007 Mazda Mazda6 review |

2006 | 4dr Sedan turbocharged 274hp 2.3L I4 6-speed manual AWD |
Far too many horror stories about the engine throwing a rod, with or without modifications. Also, many turbos are known to smoke, but Mazda does nothing about the situation. full 2006 Mazda Mazda6 review |
2004 | 4dr Sedan 160-horsepower 2.3L I4 5-speed manual FWD |
interior out of cheap plastic that easily scratches, seat foam partially collapsed, annual caliper lube required, bought the car as a 5year lease return w/ 84 000 km, now getting close to 9years 135 000km, replaced suspension bushings/ball joints from day1, clutch at 125k, no holes yet but plenty of rust, haven't been able to track down a couple of noises, might have been there since new, doing almost as much work on the car as on my 19year old 340 000km Volvo 850 though the Volvo is easier & more fun to work on, this Mazda isn't designed to receive any more than the most urgent maintenance with a design lifespan around 10years/250 000km, whichever comes 1st... full 2004 Mazda Mazda6 review |
