The color helps cover up the confusion at the base of the A-pillar. Otherwise a clean design. Tortured sheet metal on the Toyota, especially the rear fenders. Clumsily blacked-out rear pillar.
The original Volt's exterior was more distinctive, but looks heavy compared to the new one. Chevrolet's current face, electrified.
Body sides appear slender without the original's swath of black trim. Standard 17-inch wheels help. Much more athletic shape. But the high tail limits rearward visibility.
Note how far forward the rear hatch opening extends. Black triangle fakes window outline. Cleanly styled interior. I feel I should find this attractive, yet it leaves me cold.
Bizarre fishbowl spaceship. Feels far more open and roomier than the Volt's interior, though. More distinctive interior is the original Volt helped make driving it a special experience.
The instrument panel in the Volt seems less massive than that in the Prius, yet also more intrusive. Large, vibrant displays are the highlights of the Volt's interior. Usability way up.
Reconfigurable. Ball gauge on the left effectively communicates how efficiently you're driving. Pretty, but it's far less clear how to use this information.
Detailed, thorough, helpful feedback in the Prius. The Volt's seat fabric looks and feels designed for durability and low cost.
Huge hatch opening. Lighter, more efficient, and less expensive to product than the original Volt's powertrain.
