It was slight when purchased (104,000 miles) and progressed until unbearable (108,000 miles). Since the blower is tucked way up inside the dash, removal and replacement is time-consuming and costly, with shop estimates from $1000 to $1500. I removed the front cowl, and using a flashlight, mirror, and long piece of small diameter tubing (you can use something else I'm sure), I put TriFlow lubricant into the end of the tubing and snaked it in to the front motor bearing (could see that the shaft was a little rusty). I could only put one drop on the bearing at a time, but the bearing was totally silent for almost a year (including freezing winter temps) and is just beginning to occasionally make a little noise. I'll do it again and use more lubricant this time. If you're a DIYer (or if you can get your mechanic to do this), this method saves a lot of time and money. | ||
