The car has been into service 6 times and is in service Would like contact others Escape is currently in Service Ford Service reps have seen the toxic flakes and continue to ignore the seriousness and my health related problems. After research and contact with the dealership, most likely culprit is a defective throttle body. This is a known problem and Ford has begun to warranty these throttle bodys up to 10 yrs/150,000 miles. Vehicle is being towed to dealership to have the throttle body replaced on 7/20/2018. Dealer advised that a front end alignment wasn't possible due to warn ball joints. Replaced ourselves, an whole aftermarket lower suspension arm was purchased and installed. Despite what the dealership said, the original components didn't appear to show excessive wear, but based on milage, they were going to have to be replaced fairly soon anyway. Check engine light and message board were indicating a "Gross leak" in the fuel vapor recovery system. Dealer advised as well as research on the internet indicated that a defective fuel filler neck is most likely culprit, we replaced original filler neck with new, aftermarket piece (which did not fit as well as original). Did not resolve check engine light issue.

Of 5 employees I've talked to all have noticed problems. the fuel filler cover / flap isn't getting a good seal (doesn't have a cap) and the vacuum sensor is setting off the check engine light. They lubed / adjusted once before. they removed the gas tank and replaced the filler / neck assy.

Learned of known problem where faulty desiccator bag in A/C system explodes corrupting entire system and require complete replacement of all A/C parts including compressor, condenser etc, etc. Ford's fault but like all factory problems owner must repair. Due to advance notice from Ford mechanic, changed part as preventative measure with new improved part. Known failure of Throttle body leaves you stranded. Replaced Throttle body as preventative.
